Robert Glasper Experiment // Black Radio




The Answering Machine Messages are a mini-podcast that wittily connects big ideas and personal experiences to the biggest release of the week. On his fourth proper album, jazz pianist Robert Glasper creates a challenging take on what modern jazz can be and how to make it relevant to current urban audiences. Black Radio is out today via the famed label Blue Note Records.

The closing track off Black Radio is a cover of the Nirvana game-changer, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from . I use that moment as a way into the ideas and politics that the album so ambitiously deals in.
